Country singer Toby Keith announced on Twitter Sunday that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall and has spent the past six months in treatment.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are the most essential pattern recognition receptors in mediating the effects of innate immunity. They play a pivotal role in inducing immune response against a number of pathogens and various diseases conditions, including pathogenesis of cancer.

Inflammation is often associated with the development and progression of most of cancer, where TLRs interplay very crucial roles. Moreover, TLR activation can impact the initiation, progression and treatment of cancer by modulating the inflammatory microenvironment.
