Shock: 15 Tennis Players Drop Out of 2022 Miami Open
At least 15 tennis players either withdrew or retired during the 2022 Miami Open.

Both favourites Paula Badosa and Jannik Sinner retired from their Miami Open quarter-finals.
On the men’s side of the draw, Italian phenom Sinner was also forced to retire against World No.103 Francisco Cerundolo.

The 2022 Miami Open lasted from March 22 to April 3, 2022, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. It is the 37th edition of the men’s and women’s event and is classified as an ATP Masters 1000 event on the 2022 ATP Tour and a WTA 1000 event on the 2022 WTA Tour.
In the end, an 18-year-old Spaniard who ranked outside the top 10 rankings won the Open.

The 18yo beats Casper Ruud 7-5, 6-4 to win the Miami Open, his first career Masters 1000.
Alcaraz, now 18-2 in 2022, is the youngest ever player to win ATP Miami, beating Djokovic's record (2007).
Also the 3rd youngest ever to win a Masters 1000.

Serbia’s Novak Djokovic did not compete due to failure to meet vaccine requirements. Spain’s Rafael Nadal was out due to a schedule change. Switzerland’s Roger Federer was not at the Open because of knee surgery.
On the women’s side, 20-year-old Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek of Poland defeated Naomi Osaka in the final, 6–4, 6–0 to win the singles title.
