This happened at around 3:05 p.m. local time.

Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov drove a rented Home Depot truck along a bike and jogging path near the West Side Highway just a few blocks from the World Trade Center, hitting cyclists and pedestrians… until eventually crashing into a school bus that had two adults and two special-needs children inside. He then exited his truck and ran around yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’ while brandishing a fake weapon, in hopes of committing suicide by cop.

The suspect was taken into custody alive and with no life-threatening injuries to himself.

Today’s incident has been publicly labeled as an act of terror by New York City mayor Bill Blasio.
