Rapper 21 Savage arrested by ICE, to be deported to the UK

Rapper 21 Savage has been taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The 26-year-old musician, who was born Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is in federal immigration custody following a “targeted operation” in Atlanta on Sunday.

It turns out that the much-touted local act of DeKalb County, Georgia, is actually a British citizen who overstayed his visa, which expired in July 2006 after legally entering the U.S. a year earlier at age 12.

Further making bleak Abraham-Joseph’s case for staying in the United States is that he was convicted on felony drug charges in October 2014 in Fulton County, Georgia.

21 Savage is a UK citizen

Abraham-Joseph was in Atlanta over the weekend for the Super Bowl, even performing during the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest just days before his arrest. He is nominated for two awards at the Grammys, which will take place Feb. 10.

He goes by Saint Laurent Don on Twitter, where he has 2.8 million followers. He has 9.1 million followers on Instagram.
