RIP OLIVIERO BRANCATO BOZZI (July 11, 1984 – January 10, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 11:55 a.m.

This is considered an accidental drug overdose.

Drug deaths are frequently classified as accidents under the assumption that the users didn’t intend to kill themselves.

The decedent was a personal trainer originally from Italy.

In May 2013, Oliver Bozzi was in the news for threatening people with a machete and then instigating a seven-hour standoff with police at an apartment building in the 1700 block of North Fuller Avenue in Hollywood. He would eventually throw the sword into the complex’s pool before barricading himself inside his fifth-floor unit. The apartment building had to be evacuated.

The standoff ended at around 5 a.m. after SWAT officers fired at least six rounds of a tear gas-like agent into the apartment. The chemical did not have the desired effect and police ultimately had to breach the door to go inside and get him. A search of Bozzi’s apartment resulted in the discovery of several weapons. No shots were fired in the incident.

Bozzi was treated for unknown injuries before being transported to a local hospital. He was later booked for making criminal threats of violence under California Criminal Code 422.

He pleaded no contest to threatening his Hollywood neighbors with a machete and was sentenced to 16 months in state prison.

Oliviero Bozzi entered his plea to one count each of making criminal threats and obstructing an officer in performance of his duty.
