Fisher was scheduled to enter his second year at Ohio State University’s College of Medicine.

He reportedly collapsed near the 100-mile mark of the 102-mile Pelotonia, a bike ride to benefit cancer research. The 27-year-old was riding this year in memory of a friend who died from colorectal cancer in 2021.

News reports are that Fisher suffered from a “heart-related medical issue” during the charity event.

An estimated 6,500 to 7,000 riders took part in this weekend’s riding challenges.

Mason Fisher’s date of death: August 6, 2022
