Khabib Fans Celebrate UFC 229 Victory with Guns, Calling McGregor By Slur

News that Americans are vexed by the disgusting behavior of Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 will likely not bother, or even reach, his fans in Daghestan and Chechnya, who have been busy celebrating their champion’s victory over Conor McGregor.

Below is video of one celebratory party — complete with white papakha hats, the shooting of guns, and the old standby cry of “Хабиб – чемпион, конор – петух!” (Kabib – Champion, Conor – Chicken). In Russian, “chicken” is slang for “homosexual” and is a harsher version of the American English term “f-g.”

UFC 229 took place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on October 6th with over 20,000 in attendance, including the governor, who was evacuated from the building when the melee occurred. The event’s pay-per-view buys hit over 2 million.

Khabib returned to Daghestan in haste, without waiting for the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to conclude its investigation and pay him his appearance and winner’s fees, which are reportedly more than 2 million in total, pre-tax. Whether the nominal Russian will be allowed to return to the United States for a future fight is still up in the air.

His co-perpetrators in assaulting Dillon Danis and Conor Mcgregor were freed after their arrests Saturday night when the Irishman informed police that he was not interested in pressing charges. They are Dominance MMA’s Russian-language interpreter Rizvan Magomedov, MMA fighter Zubaira Tukhogov (now permanently banned from the UFC), and sambo fighter Esadulla Ermagaev.
