(L.A.) Jamie Bennett, 54, Died on a Beach

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 54-year-old Caucasian male that occurred on a beach.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jamie Bennett.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effect of Alprazolam and Ethanol

Other Significant Condition: Coronary Atherosclerosis

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 7:32 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in early August, presumably after the results of the tox screening came back positive.

Alprazolam, sold under the brand name Xanax, is a fast-acting, potent tranquilizer of moderate duration within the triazolobenzodiazepine group of chemicals called benzodiazepines. Alprazolam is most commonly used in management of anxiety disorders, specifically panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
