Ice Cube Turns Down $9 Million Because of COVID Vaccine Mandate

The Hollywood Reporter exclusively broke the news that rapper Ice Cube will no longer star in the ‘OH HELL NO’ comedy movie for Sony after declining a request from producers to get the COVID-19 vaccine. He was set to be paid $9M.

Ice Cube has departed Sony’s upcoming comedy in which he would’ve co-starred with Jack Black, after declining a request from producers to get vaccinated.

Oh Hell No is being produced by Matt Tolmach and Black, neither of whom offered a comment.

Sony had no comment. A personal representative for Ice Cube declined to comment. WME, his agency, declined to comment.

Cube and Black partnered on the Oh Hell No project in June. The Sony movie was looking to shoot this winter in Hawaii. Producers made the request that the cast be vaccinated.

Sources tell THR the studio is looking to find a replacement for Ice Cube, who walked from a $9 million payday.
