German Town Stops Issuing License Plates Containing the Letter “Z”

Banned because… Russia !

The vehicle-registration office in the German town of Herford decided on Friday to stop issuing license plates containing the letter Z, because many have come to consider it a symbol of support for the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the local newspaper Westfalen-Blatt reported.

Herford is in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The publication stressed that license plates containing combinations of letters associated with German Nazism (such as “SS” and “KZ”) are prohibited in Germany.
