Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Shot Dead in Nara City

While making a stump speech on a street in Nara City, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot by a man from behind.

Abe was unconscious when he was rushed to a hospital and was bleeding from the chest.

Police were able to immediately take down the man suspected of firing at Abe.

Handguns are banned in Japan. The weapon used in the shooting appears to be an improvised sawed-off shotgun.
