Electoral Vote Challenge 2005 (2004)

Sen. Barbara Boxer and Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones objected to Ohio’s electoral vote in a joint session to certify the presidential election.

Boxer and Tubbs Jones spoke the reasons for their decision, the need for election procedural reforms, and the likely outcome of their protest.

The 2005 Senate vote on the Barbara Boxer objection to the state of Ohio electoral votes was 74-1 with 25 not voting — 17 Republicans and 8 Democrats did not vote.

* Tubbs Jones died in August 2008 at the age of 58.
