Dow Falls 20% This Year; Stock Market Now Lower Than When Biden Took Office
The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit its lowest close of 2022, dipping below the previous low of 29,888.78 on June 17.
Stocks sold off for a fourth straight day on Friday as fears of higher interest rates and slowing economic growth continued to roil markets.
On January 20, 2021, the day of Joe Biden’s inauguration, the Dow closed slightly above 30,900. It closed today at 29,590.
The all-time-high record was on Jan. 4, 2022, when it closed at 36,799.65.
