Chechen Minister Suggests Conor McGregor is Mentally Unwell

A minister of the Chechen Republic has weighed in on the words of MMA fighter Conor McGregor about Chechnya’s leader Ramzan Kadyrov, as spoken by the Irishman at a September 21st press conference for an upcoming bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In the statement published by Chechnya Today, Dzhambulat Umarov took issue with how McGregor referred to the head of the Chechen Republic Kadyrov as a “dictator” while at the same time insulting the father of Dagestani native Nurmagomedov.

Dagestan and Chechnya are adjacent Muslim-dominated territories that are officially part of Russia. Umarov is Chechnya’s Minister for National Policy, Foreign Relations, and News and Information.

The minister described McGregor as “an inordinately ambitious and outrageous clown who imagines himself an unbeatable showman.”

According to Umarov, the “jumble of words blurted out” by the notorious Irishman has led many to conclude that the mental health of MacGregor may not be all right.

Umarov also denied that McGregor can possibly have any negative effect on the reputation of Ramzan Kadyrov. Furthermore, the minister said that he understands and supports the motivations of Hussein Khaliyev and other angry young Chechen men who have voiced threats against the UFC superstar on social media.
