Brock Turner Wants Sexual Assault Convictions Overturned

He gained worldwide notoriety for getting a light sentence after being convicted in June 2016 of three counts of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster in January 2015.

Now, Brock Turner wants that conviction overturned, partly hoping not to be required to become a permanently registered sex offender.

Turner’s lawyers filed a motion in court Friday to appeal his conviction. It was filed in California’s 6th District Court of Appeal.

His legal team are reportedly saying that his trial was “a detailed and lengthy set of lies.” They also allegedly claim that the assault did not take place behind a dumpster, but in an “open setting.”

Turner was a swimmer at Stanford University when the incident occurred. He and/or his advisers appear to be under the illusion right now that he received an unfair trial. In public perception, however, the only thing unfair with the trial was that when it was over, the judge showed him favor and gave him a very lenient sentence.

Furthermore, this might be a very bad time to get any sympathy when politicians, journalists and other famous men are being removed from their jobs and ostracized for involvement in incidents that are arguably less violent than what Turner was convicted of.

Facing 14 years in state prison, Turner was released from jail for good behavior after serving just three months.
