Boy Dies After Bullying Attack At Moreno Valley School
A 13-year-old boy whose head struck a concrete pillar after he was punched by another boy at a Moreno Valley middle school has died of his injuries.
The boy identified by Univision as Diego Rivera was pronounced clinically dead Tuesday night as a result of the injuries he sustained in the Sept. 16 attack, according to a Facebook post from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station.
His family plans to donate Diego’s organs “to transform this tragedy into the gift of life for other children.”
The attack that left Diego critically injured happened at Landmark Middle School in Moreno Valley and was recorded on cell phone video.
Two students have been arrested in the attack, which has spurred angry questions from parents about bullying at the school and whether anything has been done to prevent it.
One mother, Jasmine Morini, broke into tears as she visited a makeshift memorial for Diego at the school’s campus.
“I’m just beside myself,” she said. “I can’t imagine.”
A vigil is planned for Wednesday night.
This was NOT a fight. It was an ASSAULT. Diego’s mother reported the bullying to the school as recently as one week prior. They did nothing. They did not take it seriously. All the banners and words of encouragement don’t mean sht without action. Zero tolerance is the ONLY way. One offense should equal a one-day suspension and the parents should have to deal with their fcked up bully kids. But, some parents are fcked up bullies, themselves, in which case, they should be charged, too.
I hope everyone who did not take action to help this child has a desperately unhappy life from this point on.
