Bay Area counties to lock down until January 2021 due to COVID fears

Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Marin and Santa Clara counties are preemptively adopting California’s regional stay-at-home orders beginning this Sunday in an attempt to contain the COVID-19 surge.

On Thursday, Governor Gavin Newsom announced stay-at-home orders for when regions fall below 15% remaining ICU capacity.

Most of Bay Area’s stay-at-home order will take effect this Sunday.

Alameda County, however, will start Monday, Dec 7.

Marin County will start Tuesday, Dec 8.

The orders will remain in place until January 4th, 2021.
