Baltimore Shooting: One Dead, Seven Wounded at Barbershop across from Baptist Church

Sunday afternoon: One person has died and seven others wounded in a shooting reported on the 2500 block of Edmondson in Baltimore, Maryland.

The location is by Perkins Square Baptist Church, which serves mostly African Americans in a city that is about 65% black.

Police have Edmundson Avenue blocked at North Warwick Avenue.

Update: There are reports that the shooting was at a cookout by the church. Evidence markers placed by police indicate the incident happened by the Buster’s Place Barber Shop on the opposite side of the block.

This is the day after a person was shot dead in a hate attack on a synagogue in Poway in San Diego County, California. In that incident, the victim was a middle-aged Jewish woman who tried to shield her rabbi from the gunfire. The rabbi survived.
